The following is a general description of the project:
Major elements of Work include but are not limited to: 1. Process Mechanical improvements, including: a. Inspection of existing influent gate and effluent valve wall thimble to confirm condition and bolt pattern requirements. b. Replacement of rectangular butterfly backwash waste valves located in each filter gullet with eight (8) electrically actuated upward opening gates and two (2) manually operated upward opening gates. c. Replacement of reverse travel sluice gates located on the influent channel of each filter with eight (8) electrically actuated downward opening gates and two (2) manually operated downward opening gates. d. Replacement of existing mud valves with (2) new mud valves. 2. Structural Improvements, including: a. Replacement of grating at influent valves. b. Installation of concrete bulkhead at the downstream end of the east influent channel as well as the enlargement of the channel access opening at Filter 9.
